Clinical Research Billing Compliance (CRBC)

Overview

Clinical Research Billing Compliance (CRBC) ensures accurate and compliant billing for clinical research services by aligning with federal regulations, institutional policies, and payer guidelines. 

At UCSF, CRBC works in partnership with Principal Investigators, study teams, the Office of Clinical Trial Activation, and the Research Revenue Cycle team to support compliant study activation and billing workflows. The CRBC team provides audit and oversight functions, offers education and guidance, and helps identify and mitigate billing compliance risks across the research enterprise. These efforts help protect research participants, uphold institutional integrity, and minimize financial and regulatory exposure.
